Kristina Berning (* 1984 , GER) will make the Contemporary Art-Space of the State Museum next door accessible for the first time and she will ask visitors for their duty. In addition to Berning's delicate, balanced sculptures there are three transport boxes placed in the show room in which the artist will collect material for future works. Berning is benefitting from the Kunstverein's role within the social network of the city as well as its long traditional conventions and expectations of this institution: instead of demanding an expertise on art or instead of buying that in the form of an edition, one now must deliver their ballast to the Kunstverein in order for it to become art. A "wish list" of material serves as reference but yet remains vague enough to confront the artist with the unexpected. The sculptural results will be presented along with a publication as part of a lecture performance in spring 2016.
