Sara Sadik (b. 1994, Bordeaux) explores manifestations of what she calls “Beurcore” - the youth culture that emerged among members of the working class in the North African diaspora.
With references to specific markers of affiliation expressed in music, language, fashion, and social media, she succeeds in creating a sharp yet empathetic analysis of the social pressures and expectations placed on young adults in a post-migrant society.

For Westfälischer Kunstverein, Sadik has developed a new video installation that delves into her observations about the conditioning of masculinity, which has traditionally been closely linked to qualities such as physical and psychological strength. “Ultimate Vatos” creates a scenario set between The Hunger Games and voyeuristic survival training, following a single protagonist as he completes this transgressive training program.

“Ultimate Vatos: Force & Honneur” is the artist's first institutional solo exhibition in Germany and is curated by Kristina Scepanski and Oriane Durand.

The project is supported by Kunststiftung NRW.

With the kind support of the Bureau des arts plastiques of the French Institute Germany and the French Culture Minister.
